Evening Pasture Walk: Calving Season is winding down

Sharing is caring!

I have not posted much about the farm lately. We are just beginning to get our bearings and settle into our new normal of calving/baseball/softball/planting season. And just as things seem to settle into a routine, we will soon have to re-adjust again.  I could hardly believe it after a late evening pasture walk with my hubby we are already up to 27 calves! Calving season is winding down, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

Cowcheck
Late pasture check, came right out of a band concert, and pulled on mud boots.

I tried to get some pics of the calves but they are everywhere, and constantly moving.

I have not posted much about planting, but that is going full throttle right now also. I keep eye on the cows while hubby is busy planting, it is what works for us 🙂 As I type this my hubs is finishing up a 50 acre planting of soybeans.  There is not much planting left to do. If we are lucky there will be a little reprieve, before we cut hay, but if the weather cooperates it looks like we are cutting next week. Hay is it’s own kind of special, worthy of a full post all to it’s self. I will tell you all about it later.

I have been slowly chipping away, at the kitchen project.  The ceiling is now painted, finally! And I am going to begin the knotty pine makeover soon. Of all the projects that go along with our little kitchen refresh, the knotty pine scares me the most, there is a lot of it, and the prep needed to make sure they come out looking right it considerable.

  1. I love that you live on a farm and have cattle and calves! And the planting, I wish I had even a tiny garden to call my own! We live in the desert and I have a black thumb, so no hope there. I’m not sure I could manage all the hard work you do, though, but still, what beautiful country you live in!

    1. Rachel, I am ready for a little slow down so I can enjoy this summer! I love it, but it can get a little crazy.
