Farm Life Friday

Sharing is caring!

Farm Life

We are now up to 6 calves. 6 of 30, it is still early in calving season and I am tired. I am spending around 3-4 hours a day with the cows and calves.

I am tired, sore, sun burnt and have a rash that may or may not be poison ivy. I have managed to get this far into calving season without throwing out my back, but messed up my knee somehow.

I am also very happy to say we have 6 healthy calves, and that includes Rosie and Sissy, our bottlefed twins.

Rosie and Sissy
Did I mention Softball and Baseball?  4 nights a week, I am running kids to practices and games.  Laundry is backed up, dinners are late and haphazardly thrown together.

At the end of the day, I fall into bed, bone tired.  But it is a good tired, I get the kind of nights sleep that you can only get from being outside all day, on a farm with animals I enjoy being around. Happy to see my kids participate in sports they love, and grateful I can do it all.

I need to get back on the ball. Meal planning, scheduling, and organizing. So I am going to ask a favor of you. My family likes to eat, I am am short on time, I think my slow cooker might help our meal problem.

I would love it if you could share your favorite warm weather crockpot meals, you can email a recipe, post a link in a comment here,  or message me on Facebook. I have created a Warm Weather CrockPot board on Pinterest, to pin any recipes I come across or you send. If you are needing a little meal inspiration yourself, please feel free to follow this board, or any of my boards for that matter 🙂

I can not wait to start getting myself a little more organized, and I am pretty sure my family is looking forward to a better quality meals 😉

  1. Man, I’m tired just reading about your days! Sounds like a lot of fun too though, as you said. I will have to check out your Pinterest board. I’m interested in some good crockpot recipes as well!

  2. Just get some baby back ribs and throw them in the crockpot with some bbq sauce, store bought or homemade. Simple, good, easy. We like to throw them on the BBQ for just a few minutes before we eat them – it carmelizes the sugar in the bbq sauce! Yum.

    1. Ribs are my husbands favorites, but I don’t cook them often because they take so long, but I love the idea of cooking them in the crockpot first! Thank you!

  3. I love the pictures of the calves.
Will have to check out your pinterest boards. Always looking for new recipes.
I like the crockpot for busy days. I have an electric pressure cooker that comes in handy on busy days too.

    1. Sandra,
That is so funny that you mentioned an electric pressure cooker, I have been stalking them at Amazon and Walmart, but I am too afraid to buy one and actually try it! I will have to revisit that as soon as we are done with calving.
