In a large saucepot, melt the butter and add the oats. Stir for 2 minutes to toast.
Add the boiling water and salt, reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and keep at a low simmer for 25 minutes, without stirring.
Add the milk, brown sugar and vanilla to oatmeal. Stir gently to combine and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until the oatmeal reaches the thickness you enjoy.
BROWN SUGAR CINNAMON TOPPING
In a small bowl mix butter, brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
CREAM CHEESE GLAZE
Microwave cream cheese in a small bowl for about 10 seconds until just melted.
Stir in confectioners' sugar until combined.
Stir in milk and vanilla until creamy.
TO SERVE:
Place the desired amount of oatmeal in a serving bowl. Drizzle with some of the cinnamon-sugar topping, and then drizzle on top of that some of the cream cheese glaze. Serve warm.
