Homemade Pizza Seasoning

Traditional Italian herbs; oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme, combined with onion flakes, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes in a five-minute pantry blend that takes homemade pizza to the next level. Use it on pizza crust, in sauce, baked into bread dough, or anywhere you'd reach for Italian seasoning.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 1/2 tbsp dried onion flakes
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients. The most flavorful results are achieved with a mortar and pestle or a Spice or Coffee Grinder.
  • Store in a tightly sealed container and in a dry, cool place

Notes

A little goes a long way, start with a light sprinkle or a level teaspoon. For the smoothest blend, pulse briefly in a spice grinder so the rosemary and onion flakes melt into cheese and sauce instead of sitting on top. Stores about 6 months in an airtight jar; I use a mason jar with a shaker lid.
