The Purple Painted Lady Art Festival
If you’re looking for a great country fall festival the Purple Painted Lady Art Festival is one that you need to put on your calendar!
With over 300 artists on 60 acres of land, this Art Festival offers a wide variety of artists, crafters, and vintage and antique sellers in a family-friendly country setting that make this festival worth a trip. Located in Palmyra, in Wayne County, the festival is a short drive from Rochester.
The Purple Painted Lady Art Festival is actually in its 9th year, and even though this festival is a few of miles from our farm this was the first year I was able to attend, we are usually chopping corn!
Since everything farm wise is running behind schedule, our weekend was free, and the girls and I went over to see what hype was about.
So Many Vendors!
From food products to arts and crafts, the assortment of vendors was exceptional. The wide assortment of creative and unique products was at a quality you don’t often see at typical festivals, and most of the craftspeople are from the Upstate New York region.
Some of the vendors are new to the festival scene and offer very affordable prices, and other’s are seasoned vets with high-end products. Basically, there is something for every budget here.
Here are just a few things that caught my eye during our visit:
We came home with a jar of Uncle Timmy’s Spicy Meat Sauce. Like any good traditional Rochester Meat Sauces, this one had a decent kick. But it also had amazing flavor!
Usually, hot sauces have heat with very little flavor, or good flavor with very little heat. Uncle Timmy has managed to bring both heat and flavor to his sauce, resulting in one of the best jarred meat sauces I have ever had!
I am seriously obsessed with these characters made from vintage tins at the Rin Tin Vintage booth!
Sadly, it was nearly 90 degrees on the day of our festival visit, and I just couldn’t get into the mood to buy a snowman. A fact I instantly started kicking myself for the moment I got home. Luckily, I was able to find Rin Tin Vintage’s Facebook page, so I can get a snowman when the weather is just a tad more seasonable.
Smells Well Goats Milk Soap is amazing, and I am not just saying that because our hay feeds her goats! Shannon milks her goats every day to make her handcrafted soaps, lotions, and bath products.
I didn’t catch the vendor’s name who had these Hand Lettered signs, but I loved them!
Did you happen to see the one at the bottom of the display that reads: “As for me and my house, we will serve milk & cookies”??
Isn’t it adorable!!
What you need to know about the Purple Painted Lady Art Festival
- The festival raises money every year for a noteworthy cause so there is a $5 entry fee per person.
- Parking is free.
- The event is handicapped accessible, but parking is in a hayfield and the event is in a grassy yard.
- There are areas available to sit and eat.
- Port-a-potties are also available.
- Many vendors will hold your purchases until you are ready to leave, so you don’t have to tote large items around.
- Come hungry, there were lots of food options available at the food trucks!
There was plenty of great music, artists and food. If you missed it this year make it a point to get there next year.
It will be worth it!
