Brewing the Perfect Cup of Coffee at Home & Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer

Ahhh coffee, it makes mornings tolerable, and my to-do list achievable, and now the making the perfect cup of coffee at home is easier than ever with the BUNN HB Coffee Maker and my homemade sweet cream coffee creamer.

I have spent a lot of my life drinking coffee that in all honestly was not super great. I have also spent a significant amount of time trying to hide the fact that the coffee I was drinking was not the best with drizzles of flavoring, heavy store bought creamers and sweeteners. And when all else failed I would find myself at the local coffee shop, paying way too much for my caffeine fix.

I was recently sent the brand new BUNN HB Coffee Maker to try, and I will be honest I was skeptical it would live up to all they hype.  This isn’t my first rodeo, I’ve owned more coffee makers than I care to admit. I’ve fallen for the big machines that promise the moon and stars  and have also tried the fads.

I have owned a lot of coffee makers.  Some better than others. But I have never owned a coffee maker like the BUNN HB Coffee Maker, guys, this is no exaggeration!

If you aren’t familiar with BUNN, next time you are in a restaurant take a peek at the coffee-maker, I would bet you a cup of coffee it will be a commercial BUNN coffee maker.

There are many variables that go into crafting the perfect cup of coffee, but with the BUNN HB Coffee Maker, you don’t have to purchase multiple gadgets or learn different pouring techniques. The design may look simple but there is a lot of commercial technology packed into this coffeemaker. In fact, it is ONE OF ONLY 10 coffee makers to meet the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s (SCAA) standards

So how does the BUNN HB Coffee Maker make the perfect cup of coffee? I am glad you asked because I took it upon myself to read the booklet that came with my new coffee maker. Mostly because I wanted to see how such a streamlined machine could possibly deliver everything the BUNN HB Coffee Maker promised.

The optimum coffee brewing temperature is 90.6°C – 96.1°C (195°F – 205°F). BUNN releases water into the percolation chamber only after the water reaches the optimum brewing temperature (200°F) – perfect brew, every single time! This is a difference I have been truly able to ‘taste’  in my coffeeit creates a richer cup of coffee this is not bitter at all.

I am not a fussy coffee drinker.  I like my coffee freshly brewed, dark and rich, and not to cost an arm and a leg. Occasionally will I add sweet cream coffee creamer.  After using my BUNN HB Coffee Maker for a couple of days I’ve been inspired to create the perfect cup of coffee, complete with a homemade sweet cream coffee creamer.  You could say I awoke my inner barista!

Homemade Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer

  • Author: Jennifer Morrisey
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp turbinado sugar

Combine the sugar, vanilla, creamer, and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer on the stove over medium-low heat, whisking constantly until it begins to steam slightly. Don’t bring it to a boil, because your creamer will curdle.

Remove from heat, allow the creamer to cool, then store in the refrigerator. Feel free to adjust the amounts for stronger or sweeter flavors.

The coffee the  BUNN HB Coffee Maker makes is amazing, but this coffee maker has a couple of other features I am absolutely in love with, and I think you will love too!

No Drip Spout- The lid on the carafe has a funny little extension that at first glance looks odd.  But it really does wick that last drop of coffee back, preventing it from dripping all over counter tops!

Sleek design- I have been decluttering my counter-tops and I really appreciate that is coffee maker visually does not clutter up my kitchen.

Programmable Timer–  Hello Fresh Coffee the moment I wake up…No Waiting!
